It’s Royal Wedding Day! Following the arrival of more than 600 guests this morning, the Wedding Ceremony started at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor at noon. Many members of the Royal Family were in attendance, including the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. They were last to arrive before the bridesmaids and the pageboys with their mothers, and finally the bride. After climbing the steps of St. George’s Chapel, Meghan moves in procession through the Nave where she is joined by The Prince of Wales. He accompanied her on the second half of her walk to the High Altar, where she met the groom, the Duke of Sussex.
The Royal Family is attending The Queen’s Birthday Party Concert at the Royal Albert Hall tonight. Her Majesty is celebrating her 92nd birthday today. The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust is the major beneficiary of event. Her Majesty is Patron of the Trust, that champions, funds and connects young leaders who are working hard to make a difference in the world. The leaders of the 53 Commonwealth nations, who were in London this week for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, are at the concert as well.
The concert is broadcasted live on the BBC tonight. Usually, the Queen is not celebrating her birthdays in public on this day in April (except for her ‘special’ birthdays, such as her 80th and 90th), but during Trooping the Colour on a Saturday in June. ‘Special’ birthdays are often celebrated with events in June too instead of April, since the weather is much better. However, Her Majesty made an exception tonight and is celebrating her birthday inside the Royal Albert Hall with her family by her side. Performers include Kylie Minogue and Tom Jones.
A list of members of the Royal Family in attendance tonight:
- Her Majesty the Queen
- The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall
- The Duke of Cambridge

As expected, the Duchess of Cambridge is not attending the concert tonight. She is only days away from giving birth to her third child and is on maternity leave since the end of March. She last appeared in public on Easter Sunday when attending a church service with the Royal Family in Windsor. However, it is expected that we will see her somewhere in the next 10 days with a baby in her arms on the steps of the Lindo Wing!
Prince Harry, as President of The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, gave a speech at the concert tonight. After the speech, the Queen appeared on the stage with Prince Charles, who also gave a short speech for his mother.
Editor’s Note: A Very Happy Easter everyone!
The Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge are attending the annual Easter service at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle this morning. HM The Queen and members of the Royal Family are also in attendance. Prince Phillip has pulled out of the service due to illness. It is only the second time that the Cambridges have joined Her Majesty for Easter.
The Cambridges are spending Easter with the Middletons in Bucklebury this year. They arrived late for the Service, after Her Majesty (which is very unusual). The pair was delayed by traffic on their way to Windsor. The Duchess is currently on maternity leave awaiting the birth of her third child later this month. After her last official engagement on March 22
The Princess Royal and her husband Timothy Laurence, Prince Andrew, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie and her fiancée Jack Brooksbank, the Earl and the Countess of Wessex, their daughter Lady Louise and son Viscount James, a very pregnant Zara Tindall, and Peter Phillips and his wife Autumn were also present for the Service in Windsor.
Buckingham Palace just announced that Princess Eugenie, the youngest daughter of prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah, is enageged with her long-time boyfriend Jack Brooksbank. The couple became engaged in Nicaragua earlier this month and the wedding is to take place at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor in the Autumn. Futher details are to be announced later.
The official engagement pictures of the couple were released by Buckingham Palace in the afternoon. They were taken by photographer Jonathan Brady earlier today in the picture gallery of Buckingham Palace. The engagement ring features a very rare pink padparadscha sapphire surrounded by diamonds. The Princess wore a dress by Erdem and shoes by Jimmy Choo for the photoshoot.
