Royal Visit Norway: A Sporty and Snowy End to the Tour at Holmenkollen (day 4)

Together with Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, the Royal couple visited the Holmenkollen Ski Jump and the Holmenkollen skimuseum. They watched a demonstration by the best young Norwegian ski jumpers afterwards.

Royal Visit Norway: Morning at Hartvig Nissen School and Skaugum (day 4)

The final day of the visit will start at the Hartvig Nissen School, which was the location for the very popular television programma ‘Skam’. Skam is a drama series focussing on teenagers and the challenges young people face during their youth.  TRH will meet the stars and producers to hear more about the series.

The Duke and the Duchess and the Crown Prince Couple greeted the crowds waiting outside.

At Skaugum, the offical residence of the Crown Prince Couple, the Duke and Duchess will have a private luncheon with the Crown Prince and Crown Princess.

The Duchess wears a new coat by Dolce & Gabbana, her Tod’s pumps and Mappin & Webb earrings.

Later today:

  • Together with Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, the Royal couple will visit the Holmenkollen Ski Jump and the Holmenkollen skimuseum. They will watch a demonstration by the best young Norwegian ski jumpers afterwards.
  • Their last engagement in Scandinavia will be an event organised by the Norwegian Ski Federation. TRH will see a group of nursery children take part in an afternoon ski session on the slopes near Oslo. The Duke and the Duchess will take part in some of the activities and speak to the instructors.
  • TRH will then depart for London at Oslo Gardermoen Airport.

Royal Visit Norway: A Glittering Gala Dinner at the Royal Palace (day 3)

Their Majesties the King and the Queen are helding an official dinner in honour of the Duke and the Duchess this evening at the Royal Palace in Oslo.

Both King Harald and the Duke gave a speech at the dinner, which will be attended by members of the government, business leaders, people from the Norwegian creative industries and members of the Norwegian Armed Forces. In total, 104 guests are invited. From the Norwegian Royal Family, the Crown Prince and Princess are attending, as are Princess Märtha-Louise and princess Astrid.

The Duchess was escorted by HM King Harald V to the dinner tonight and she sat next to him at the table. The Duke accompanied Queen Silvia to the dining hall.

Royal Visit Norway: A Snowy and Cold Day in Oslo for the Duke and Duchess (day 3)

At Oslo Gardemoen Airport, the Duke and Duchess are received by Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit. The airport was fully covered in snow this morning and the outside temperature is around 0 C. Tomorrow will be even colder, as the weather reports are now saying that it will be between -7 and -12 C during the day.

Royal Visit Sweden: Goodbye Stockholm! (day 3)

After two very succesful days in Sweden, the visit of the Duke and Duchess is almost over. It was planned that they would receive a briefing on the Swedish Armed forces and view some aircraft at Uppsala Airbase. Sadly, because of the very heavy snowfall, this engagement could not go ahead. Instead, the Duke and Duchess had a briefing by Swedish Minister of Defence, Peter Hultqvist, the Chief of staff of the Air Force, Major General Mats Helgesson, and the CEO of Saab – Håkan Buskhe.

After the meeting, the Duke and Duchess and their entourage will depart Stockholm for Oslo, Norway. Their arrival is scheduled to be around noon.

The Duchess is wearing a blue coat and a beautiful updo.

Later today in Norway:

  • At Oslo Gardemoen Airport, the Duke and Duchess will be received by Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit.
  • From the airport, the Royal party will travel to the Royal Palace in Stockholm for an official luncheon with King Harald and Queen Sonja. Other members of the Norwegian Royal Family will be in attendance.
  • After the luncheon, the Duke and Duchess will visit the Princess Ingrid Alexandra Sculpture Park near the Royal Palace. The Park was opened in honour of the heriditary Princess Ingrid Alexandra (14), the oldest daughter of the Norwegian Crown Prince Couple. The Duke and Duchess will embark on a short walkabout to meet members of the public during their visit to the park.
  • In the afternoon, the Duke and Duchess and the Crown Prince couple will visit an event at MESH (a working space for entrepreneurs and start-up companies). TRH will meet a number of Norwegian and British companies based at MESH.
  • The Duke and Duchess, again accompanied by the Crown Prince couple, will visit the Akershus Fortress in Oslo to look at Norway’s new search and rescue helicopter.
  • Their Majesties the King and the Queen are helding an official dinner in honour of the Duke and the Duchess in the evening at the Royal Palace. Both King Harald and the Duke will give a speech at the dinner, which will be attended by members of the government, business leaders, people from the Norwegian creative industries and members of the Norwegian Armed Forces.
