Royal Visit Oceania 2018: Cuddling Koalas, A Visit to the Opera House & A Reception (day 1)

After attending the official welcome ceremony at Admiralty House this morning, the Duke and Duchess will open the new Taronga Institute of Science and Learning at Taronga Zoo.

The couple met with two koalas, named Ruby and Wattle, and their joeys (who are tucked away in their mum’s fur), who have been called Meghan and Harry in their honour. The two joeys are a wedding gift from the people of New South Wales to the couple. Because of new rules surrounding the cute animals, the couple can only pad them and not hold them anymore, like Royals used to do before.
