Kate’s Style File 2015: New or Repeats?

In this final episode of Kate’s Style File 2015 we will analyze the amount of new and repeat clothes and hats worn by the Duchess in 2015. It will be interesting to see if these figures stay the same over the years, or she starts repeating more in the years to come.

The Duchess wore 46 outfits in 2015.

Nieuwe kleding
Just like last year, the Duchess wore entirely new clothes most often. Out of the 46 outfits worn in 2015, 27 were entirely new (which is 58,70%). In comparison to 2014: 33 out of the 64 outfits were new (54,10%). She did wear less new clothes this year, but as the total amount of outfits decreased, the percentage is higher. Kate’s Style File 2015: The Designers

In this fourth episode of Kate’s Style File 2015, we will have a look at the favorite designers of the Duchess in 2015. Which designers will make it into the top-3 this year?

The Duchess wore 46 different outfits this year. However, if she wore two designers in one outfit, I counted it as two designers, so there are more designers than outfits.

Favorieten
For the second year in row, the top spot was taken by Alexander McQueen. The Duchess’ bespoke McQueen outfits are designed by Sarah Burton. The Duchess wore 5 outfits by McQueen this year, which is significantly lower than in 2014, when she wore 11 outfits by this designer. McQueen is often her go-to choice for important state events and family occasions. The brand designed the bespoke cream coatdress the Duchess wore for princess Charlotte’s christening in July.

Kate’s Style File 2015: The Hairstyles

In this third episode of Kate’s Style File 2015, we will have a look at the Duchess’ hair. 2015 was the year of *the fringe*. When returning from maternity leave in September, the Duchess had a fringe. In December, she also had a major haircut. Her changes this year were not very popular with fans, especially the fringes. Many were happy to see them grow out and never return in 2016. In this blog post, we will analyze the Duchess’ hair in 2015.

The Duchess wore 46 different hairstyles in 2015.

Favoriet
The Duchess’ absolute hairstyle favorite this year was again the hair down-look. She wore her hair down on 29 occasions, which was 63,04% of her total amount of hairstyles. In comparison: we saw her wearing her hair down in 2014 35 times, which was 54,69% of all hairstyles worn that year. The increase in percentage can be caused by the fringes, which limited the options for the Duchess in terms of hairstyles. Because of the fringes, wearing her hair in a half-up-half-down look became more difficult.

Kate’s Style File 2015: The Type of Clothes

In this second episode of Kate’s Style File 2015, the type of clothes worn by the Duchess will be analyzed. While we always love to see the Duchess in a gown, she also wears great coats, cocktail dresses and trousers.

The Favorites
The Duchess’ absolute favorite type of clothes this year was the classic dress or the top and skirt. This type of clothing is favorite for most European female Royals. The Duchess wore this type of clothes 20 this year, which is 43,48% of her outfits. In comparison: she wore 28 dresses or top+skirts in 2014, which was around 43,75%. The percentages only differ slightly, even though the absolute numbers are different. That is because of the decrease in the total amount of outfits in 2015 (due to Princess Charlotte’s birth).

Kate’s Style File 2015: The Colours

In this first episode of Kate’s Style File 2015, we will discuss the colours of the outfits worn by the Duchess in 2015. Due to the absence of a big Royal Tour in 2015 and the maternity leave following the birth of princess Charlotte in May, it was a rather quiet year for the Duchess. However, the Autumn of 2015 was the Duchess’ busiest Autumn yet and she carried out a lot of engagements, and even attended her very first state banquet at Buckingham Palace.

Favorite colours
The Duchess of Cambridge’s favorite colours in 2015 appear to be blue (worn 7 times, which is about 15% of all outfits), red (worn 6 times, which is about 13% of all outfits) and the classic monochrome combination of black and white (worn 5 times, which is about 11% of all outfits worn in this year).

The Duchess’ favorite this year was blue, just like in 2014. In comparison, the part of blue outfits has increased this year, with 15% this year against 12,5% in 2014. The Duchess wore less blue outfits this year than she did last year, but these outfits now represent a bigger percentage of her outfits due to the decrease in the total amount of outfits.
