The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are attending the Prince of Wales’ 70th Birthday Garden Party at Buckingham Palace this afternoon. The couple is joined by the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. It is their first engagement as a married couple after their wedding on Saturday in Windsor. The couple returned home to Nottingham Cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace yesterday. They will depart for their honeymoon later this month.
Over 6000 people are attending it from 386 of The Prince of Wales’ patronages, and 20 of The Prince’s military affiliations will be represented. Some of the first responders to the Manchester terrorist attack last year are also present for the Garden party. The Manchester attack, which killed 22 people, happened exactly one year ago today. The Duke of Cambridge attended the Manchester Arena National Memorial Service this afternoon at Manchester Cathedral to mark the first anniversary of the attack.
The Duke of Sussex gave a short speech for the attending guests.
The Duchess of Sussex shared a joke with her new in-laws.

Afterwards, the four Royals mingled with the guests on the lawn of Buckingham Palace.
This Garden Party is not one of the three annual Garden Parties held by the Queen at Buckingham Palace, but a special one for the Prince’s 70th birthday in November. The Queen herself has to give permission for this kind of additional Garden Parties to be held in the Palace Garden.
The Duchess of Sussex is wearing a blush dress by Goat (with thanks to @MeghansMirror) and a matching hat by Philip Treacy. Now she is a member of the Royal Family, Meghan also choose to wear tights. Her hair is worn in an updo, and she’s also wearing small diamond stud earrings. She choose her Wilburd & Gussie Oyster Silk clutch to go with the dress.
The Duke of Sussex looked very happy in his morning dress – including one of his favourite waistcoats (a yellow one).
